Are you looking for a way to further your involvement and professional development with CRLA? Be part of the future of CRLA and your profession! Your CRLA is looking for members who have been active in the organization and who are interested in stepping into leadership positions.

The following positions are open at this time and the Board of Directors is accepting applications. The period of service would start immediately upon the Board of Directors' approval of a candidate for a respective position.

To apply for a position, submit a letter of application addressing your willingness and ability to meet the requirements of the position, a vita or brief listing of qualifications, and a letter of institutional support. If institutional support is not required for the position, please state such in the letter of application. If other materials are required as part of the application, they will be listed in the specific job descriptions below. 

Submit your application to the current CRLA President via email (unless stated otherwise in the position description).

Leadership opportunities are available for the following Board positions:

 

President-Elect (Starting November 2026)

The President-Elect is elected by the general membership of CRLA to be on the Executive Board. The President-Elect is elected for a one-year term and serves successive one-year terms as President and then Past President.

 

Professional Development Director (Starting November 2025)

 

The Professional Development Director position, currently held by WyKeshia Atkins, will become vacant at the close of the 2025 CRLA Annual Conference. CRLA is hopeful in identifying a candidate prior to the conference to allow for a smooth transition through advanced acclimation to the role, shadowing the CRLA Board and Professional Development Director, and participating in upcoming activities, including the Summer and Fall Leadership Summits for leaders. The Professional Development Director is an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors and is appointed by the President. The term of this office is three years and may be renewed. The Professional Development Director oversees the work of CRLA’s State, Region, Chapter (SRC) and Special Interest Group (SIG) Coordinators and the implementation of projects and activities that facilitate discovering and sharing best practices to enhance student academic success and encourage members in continuing their own ongoing learning and development. This position also includes management of the CRLA Professional Development budget through funding allocations to SIG and SRC Leaders and serves as the point of contact for CRLA partners. The Professional Development Director must be a member in good standing, have maintained CRLA membership for at least three years, and have CRLA leadership experience (as a committee chair, SIG Leader, SRC Leader, etc.). The ideal candidate should have an interest in investigating, promoting, and implementing various professional development activities for the members.  A familiarity with the use of technology as a support for professional development is helpful. Application for this position includes a cover letter to the CRLA Board, CV, and letter of institutional support. Publications Director (Starting November 2025)

Jodi Lampi’s position, as CRLA’s current Publications Director, is coming to an end as CRLA’s Publications Director. CRLA is currently looking for a new Publications Director to start in November 2025, and hopefully, to identify someone early this year to allow them to shadow the CRLA Board and the Publications Director for a seamless transition. The current process is as follows: “ The Publications Director will be appointed by the President and shall serve as an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors. The Director must be a CRLA member in good standing to serve. Application for this position includes a cover letter to the CRLA Board, CV, letter of institutional support, and sample materials supporting the application, such as previously published articles and edited publications. The term of office is three years and may be renewed.” The CRLA Publications Director also assists in finding a replacement. If you are interested in this position, please submit the required information to Marco Ortiz  and if you have questions regarding the role or wish to see the current job description, please feel free to reach out to Jodi Lampi . The Publications Director must have some CRLA leadership experience (committee chair, Publications Committee member, etc.). It is expected that the Publications Director is experienced in editorship; management of professional publications; and familiar with the types of journals, white papers, and other written projects undertaken by the Association.


 

 

Get involved with CRLA as a SIG Leader!

SIG Leaders are responsible for communication with and activities for CRLA members within their group. Leaders also play a pivotal role as advocates for proposals submitted for the annual conference. The following SIGs are in need of leadership:

Get Involved with CRLA as an SRC Leader!

SRC Leaders are responsible for communication with and activities for CRLA members within their state, region, or chapter. The position provides a great opportunity to network with others in your area to discuss needs and best practices with those closest to you. The following SRCs are in need of leadership:

  • ARLA Chapter
  • Carolina Chapter
  • Mid-South Chapter
  • Mountain Chapter
  • Northern Plains Chapter
  • Ohio River Valley Chapter
  • Southern Rocky Chapter
  • Southwest Chapter

Special Interest Group (SIG) Coordinator (Starting November 2025)

The Special Interest Group (SIG) Coordinator role, current held by L. Parker, will become available at the close of the 2025 CRLA conference. The SIG Coordinator serves as the liaison between the Professional Development Director and SIG Leaders. The SIG Coordinator serves as a resource for the Leaders, facilitates coordination of SIG activities and annual conference proposals, and coordinates leadership training for the SIG Leaders with support of the Professional Development Director. The SIG Coordinator is a three year term. Eligible candidates must be an active, current member of the College Reading and Learning Association for two or more years. Candidates must have also served at least two years in a SIG Leader position. For consideration for the role, candidates must submit a resume/vita, letter of intent for the position, and letter of institutional support. CRLA Publications Committee

The CRLA’s Publications Director has a standing committee that supports the role. The seven members of the Publications Committee are comprised of the Publications Director (Chair; appointed by the President), the  Journal of College Reading and Learning ( JCRL) Editor, the Public Relations Director, and four other voting members (appointed by the Publications Director with approval from the President and the Board), shall provide an advisory role in oversight of CRLA publications. The Committee will work with the Publications Director to provide recommendations to the Board. At this time, the Publications Committee is looking to add two additional voting members to this committee. The Publications Committee members serve a three-year term, renewable.
